The Money Printers of Iberland

I knew of a country in the far eastern parts of Imagination

Called by name Iberland

It was a libertarian society

The people there invented clever systems for solving myriads of human problems

And by these could realize the paradise that all mankind desires

One of these was their treatment of money

Which I briefly recount in this piece of writing

Before theirs was similar to any modern society

With an expansive chasm between rich people and the poor

Although other types of material possession abounded on the land

The medium of exchange was not readily available to the masses

As money printing was the preserve of a special group of people

Then arose from among the thinkers of the land

A man whose thoughts revolutionized the acquisition of wealth

This man clearly understood the true nature of wealth

That an abundance of money per se is not wealth

Rather it consists in having material possession in abundance

And that money is only the medium for exchanging wealth

He argued that the masses are already richer

What remains to be gotten is the free medium for exchanging the wealth they held

He advocated that money should be made within easy reach

By making the activity of money printing a free enterprise

So that there shall be people in the society who could practice the profession and business of money printing

These people all printing the common and accepted money of the land

The masses saw wisdom in his advice and money printing forthwith ceased to be a monopoly

There was an initial rush at money as most countrymen saw the money printing enterprise very attractive

Yes, every man wanted to possess more money

But soon the thinker was vindicated

Mother nature imposed a natural restraint on the people

The country began to lack in food, clothing, safe water and other material possessions the people needed to survive

The people all realized in a rather short time that they couldn’t all be money printers

Some would have to keep to the other trades, arts and enterprises

This necessary so that the variety of material possessions

Which they actually needed for their survival and development

Could also be produced

In time a stable society developed

Whereby the business and profession of money printing

Existed together with a lot many arts and enterprises

What happened was that if someone possessed any item

It could be battered for money at the money printer’s

This was how any material possession was converted to money

And then on used to acquire other material possessions

There goes a very ingenious system

Which modern societies may adopt to solve the perennial pandemic of poverty

The people are not actually poor

They are only not able to exchange goods and services freely
